So my ipad is too old to download the kindle app. I was trying to bypass that, by going through iTunes. Im just trying to get kindle app on my old Ipad.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Since the release of iTunes 12.7 over a year ago it has no longer been possible to use iTunes to download apps.
