Why can't I watch Apple Tv on my MacBook Pro?

I can watch it on my iPhone, iPad, and smartTV. Why does nothing happen when I click play on a TV show/episode from my macbook pro? It's all there, just not clickable. Signed in with my apple ID. My macbook doesn't have the apple tv icon, but I go to apple, click TV, sign in, and it doesn't work. As you know, trying to get help from apple is impossible. Paying 4.99/month and can't get it to work. I just go in circles. Help? Anyone?
