Audio levels for Gen3 Apple TV A1469

Hello

I must have some settings wrong but seems I cannot lower the volume on my apple TV when playing a movie or a song.

I'm using an HDMI splitter to carry the sound to my headphones and the video to the TV.

Setting the volume should happen at TV level though and I cannot see why this is device can be a problem

Hello,

Think of it this way. If your TV setup is of the following:

Apple TV <-> HDMI <-> HDMI Splitter <-> HDMI <-> TV

<-> Headphones

Apple TV does not an independent audio control so it will output at 100% volume. Your TV will input the Apple TV’s volume. When you change the volume on your TV, you are changing the volume of the TV’s speakers not the original audio output level of the Apple TV. When you are using this splitter, Apple TV is outputting it’s volume at 100% into your headphones. You would need to connect a dedicated volume control to your headphones.
