Received a message on WhatsApp supposedly from Apple saying they have the location of my iPhone

I recently lost my IPhone XS Max and reported it stolen on Findmyiphone. I now have a now phone.

I just received a message on WhatsApp supposedly from Apple saying they have the location of my IPhone but I’m not sure if it’s a scam. Does anyone know if this is something Apple would do, or is it a scam from someone trying to get into my old phone?

Apple is not monitoring, tracking, nor searching for anyone’s lost, stolen or missing devices. They don’t do that. They don’t even have any means of knowing your device is missing. And they most certainly would not use another companies text app and service to contact you.
