Pages to Word conversion

A friend has written a book using Pages as the format. Potential publishers require the manuscript in Word format. I have tried, so far unsuccessfully, to find a Pages to Word converter that can handle footnotes correctly. All the converters I have tried simply treat the footnote as part of the main text, meaning that any editing can push it to the top of the next page.

This must be a common problem. Does anyone know of a converter that handles footnotes correctly?

Thanks...

Export your Pages document to Word, and then open in MS Word. Adjust footnotes (and other glitches) with Word. Then share that native Word document format with the publisher. No one makes a Pages to Word converter when they know that Pages can export to it. Apple does not open up the internal Pages document architecture so that one could write a converter anyway.

When a publisher says that they require MS Word document formats, one is wise to start with MS Word as that is what the publisher will be reviewing the native content that Word sends them. Pages is not a Word clone, and attempts to translate the internal Pages content into a Word document. There is no assurance of a 100 percent accurate translation, or that the resulting Word document will be fully compatible or even appear the same once opened in MS Word itself.
