How to update my Apple ID email on my MacBook

I changed my email for my Apple ID on my iPhone. My MacBook is logged in with my old email and I can’t figure out anywhere to update the email to the new email I just changed it to. I keep getting pop ups saying it can’t log me in with the old email. Anyone know how I just update the new email on my MacBook?

Why do you need to log in with the old email?

If you have changed your ID or password, have you followed the steps in this article?

I don’t think I explained it well. I followed the steps in the article you posted and under my MacBook it lists the correct email. However, whenever I am on my MacBook I keep getting a pop up that says “This Mac can’t connect to iCloud because of a problem with “lists my old email address”. Then when I go into iCloud preferences my old email is listed and I can’t figure out how to change that.
