Does Siri speak and listen with the same accent?

Does Siri speak and listen with the same accent? Say I want to turn on Siri for the first time, but want it to speak to me in an Irish accent. Will Siri recognize my voice better if I speak the same accent, or can I speak an American accent and it will recognize my commands just as well?
