The app might not be compatible, but the scanner ought to still work.
Make sure it is added to Printers & Scanners as an AirPrint device, assuming the particular model you're using is AirPrint-enabled. Most are. If it is not, third party options such as VueScan might work.
Epson has just updated the software for some of their scanners in the last couple of days. You might want to check there and try the latest version. As an alternative, as noted here, apple's Image Capture app will also scan, but without the additional features. Lastly, for a reasonable fee, you can purchase Vue Scan 2. It is a full featured app and is available on a trial basis to see if you like it. The cost is somewhere around $28, if I remember correctly. You do have options. Good luck.
Thanks I’ll try Epson. I used it for years but now it isn’t compatible with Catalina. Might have to spring for a modern Printer. Have loved this 3 in 1.
Use the Image Capture application that is one of the applications that comes with your Mac. Afterwards, if you want to, you can delete your scanner software as it isn't needed.

FWIW, Maybe also download Epson scan Utility ( updated verson). It works on Catalina, just as Epson scan 2 does
