Apple Folio Case no longer supported, Automatic Lock/Unlock with Case does not work

The Apple brand Folio Case for iPhones seems to have lost its main feature - It doesn't lock/unlock the phone when you open/close the case anymore. Anyone else having this issue? I chatted with online support and they couldn't figure it out. No explanation as to why this functionality has suddenly stopped after recent updates (currently on 13.3). Support chat technician told me to bring it to an Apple store, which I did. No less than 3 Genius Bar technicians all tried to resolve the issue. We tried a new case on my phone, a new case on the technicians phone, my case with a technician's phone, iphone 11 vs. X vs. XS, etc etc. We discovered that no one's phone, new or old, could get this functionality to work anymore. The issue existed with everything we tried. The setting, "Lock/Unlock - Automatically lock and unlock the iPhone when you close and open the iPhone cover" in 'Display & Brightness' simply does not work on anyone's device. The Genius Bar diagnosis: It's an iOS software issue. They told me to report it here, so that's what I'm doing. Please fix! As a result I'm taking an unwanted screenshot every time I manually close the phone because of the volume and lock button placement (an oversight Apple is already aware of, but still hasn't fully repaired either).
