App keeps redownloading

A few weeks back I tried to install this game for which I don’t have enough storage, so I just canceled it. Then, yesterday I installed the books app. Now I notice that every time I open the books app, the other game keeps coming back, trying to install (which it can’t because my iPhone is only 16G). It is possible to stop the download, and the app icon disappears, but when I open the books app it comes back. I have tried to disable automatic downloads for apps, app updates and books, uninstalling the books app itself, clearing out storage to install the game to then installing it fully and uninstalling it next, restarting the phone, but nothing has worked. I haven’t even found anyone with the same problem, am I the only one? How do I fix it?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 13

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I see that the app you no longer wish to download keeps coming back and I’d like to offer you some help.

Since it’s not downloaded onto your iPhone, you can’t go through the process of deleting it. What you should try next is hiding the purchase from the App Store. Use this resource to give it a try: Hide App Store purchases

Once that has been done, go ahead and Restart your iPhone again.

I have just tried this, but the game still tries to download when I open the books app. Although it is no longer in the purchased apps list and it’s not coming back there

like in the home screen.

For now, the solution I have found is to stop using the books app altogether, and just reading the books in the files app.
