IPhone 6s charging problems

My husbands iPhone 6s got wet. I put it in rice overnight and checked everything out. It works fine but the lightening charge will not go all the way into the charging port.

Start here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t charge

However, the phone likely has water damage and will need to be checked: Find Locations
