Hourglass pointer??

When not using the pointer, the pointer turns into an hourglass like on Windows? Does anyone know what has happened or what can fix this?

Hey NannaAndersen,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I see that your Mac is showing an hourglass icon when you don’t use your mouse pointer, and I’d like to help you resolve this issue.

Try turning off your Mac and back on to see if it helps. Here’s how: How to turn your Mac on or off https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201150

If that doesn’t help, try the following steps:

Make sure no apps are in the process of not responding. Use Force Quit application: How to force an app to quit on your Mac

Check Activity Monitor to ensure everything is working fine under the CPU section: How to use Activity Monitor on your Mac

I hope this helps.

Have a great day!
