Apple Watch asking for someone else's AppleID password

My Watch keeps asking for the password for someone else's AppleID and I can't get it to stop. I have tried unpairing, turning off, and signing out and back in with my ID but it keeps asking for the password for an ID that is not linked to my account or watch. It keeps doing it every two minutes. How do I make it stop?

Hi C_pot8-20,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're being prompted on your Apple Watch to enter the password for an Apple ID that doesn't belong to you and the prompt returns every few minutes. I also see that you've tried signing out of your Apple ID and back in, and also unpairing the watch and setting it up again. You've done some great troubleshooting so far, I appreciate you including those details. I can understand why you'd reach out about this prompt; I'd like to help.

When you unpaired and set up your Apple Watch and iPhone again, did you restore from a backup? I ask because it's possible there's something in the backup data for your Apple Watch that's causing this behavior. If you haven't yet, try unpairing and setting your Apple Watch up as new, then test for the behavior again:

If the behavior continues after setting up your Apple Watch as new, or you've already attempted doing so, reach out to Apple for additional assistance: Get Support

Best Regards.

I am having the same issue, it’s been happening for a couple of months at least. I have had two support calls with Apple and nothing has worked. I’ve tried all the options mentioned above, I’ve removed Apps, I’ve checked for updates and it is still happening all the time. I don’t have time to keep doing support call, I’d appreciate an email contact to liaise with to do when suits me and at this point I’m convinced it’s a bug so it would be great if I could send through some logs that can be looked at by a developer. The email displaying is my brothers, my Apple Watch and phone are brand new never used by him.

Hello,

I don't suppose you have any additional advice on this issue do you? I am experiencing the same problem and it's literally driving me mental... to the point where I am thinking of getting rid of it for something else that doesn't bug me all day long.

I constantly receive the same message to enter someone else's apple ID. I don't know the person who it is asking for and nor do I know the app that the ID is associated with otherwise I would just delete it. I have tried unpairing my apple watch and have set it up several times as a new watch but the issue persists. I clicked on the link you provided to Get Support but the response from that was that they have no solutions at present.

I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Regards,

Nicola

I did but still the same thing, when uninstalled the app and reinstalled them again, “Available apps” came back on “My watch” app so it isn’t something I download it from another Apple id, I have never ever used any apple id different than the one I have so how I have notifications to sign in for apple id I have never used or seen!? Is my iphone hacked or what?!

Any apps bought in the past with another apple id need to be removed from the phone and then reinstall

them with your apple id if you still require them. The watch is trying to install these apps but can't

because there is a different apple id on the phone now.

It might be old DRM music or apps on iCloud prompting the phone or the watch because it’s new to ask for those users passwords who initially downloaded the music.

Open your Apple Watch app on your phone and go to “My Watch

Go to Settings/General & turn off Automatic App Install.

Now go back to “My Watch” and scroll to the bottom to see “Available Apps”.

Any apps you see that are trying to install are the culprits causing the notifications!

Delete those apps from your phone, and if necessary reinstall them with your current Apple ID.

Turn Automatic App Install back on if necessary.

unpair the watch (keep mobile plan if you have one). Then sign out of your apple id on the iPhone. Sign back into your iPhone and then re-pair.
