Apple pencil not working

I tried all of the tips and tricks provided to charge my apple pencil and it still won't work. When I check my iPad it says the pencil is at 6% then it says it's at 0%. I even tried plugging it into the wall charger and the power drains. I just got this for Christmas and I had it working. Any tips?
