Finder - how to find hard drive size of remote hard drive on network- View- calculate is not available like my smaller size files

did you try from terminal:
diskutil list external
if you are mount to the server:
df H
Nope- that doesn't work on external hard drives, like I have been using in earlier versions, like OS Sierra. The Finder function to calculate size of folders and files even in View drop down Show View Options does not 'offer' the same choices available to home folders and files :( Was interested in file size of my external hard drive backup made easy, but will need ? to add numbers together? Thanks, anyway.
I entered the line in Terminal, but it responded with the cursor just sitting there?? I don't know code...
Thanks- I will just use my husband's faster computer that is on our network and his old OS to find out what I have left on our backup harddrive.

I don't use remote network drives, so this is just a guess...
Right-click > Get Info
