USB-C to Lightning Cable (1 m) Corrosion

I noticed that the lightning end of the cable is showing corrosion, which I purchased from the Apple store. I want to contact Apple Support, but the webpage is asking for a serial number which I cannot find. What is the best way to contact them and under which category is this cable in?

The link to the item https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MKQ42AM/A/usb-c-to-lightning-cable-2-m.

Thank you.

Hello,

I contacted Apple. They told me it more or less never happens, and I need to make a visit to a local store for more information. I decided to give up and not buying such a cable anymore. My other cables never showed this issue, and I do not want to spend hours to make a visit for something it may or may not be replaced by them.

I hope this article is searchable for those you are considering buying a cable from apple to make a reasonable decision.

Thank you for your answer though.
