Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that screen mirroring isn’t working between your iPad and Apple TV 3rd generation. I know that being able to watch your shows on a larger screen can change your watching experience, so I’m happy to help out. 

You mentioned that Wi-Fi is the same on each device, but I also want to make sure that Bluetooth is enabled too. If so, I suggest reviewing these steps: If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn’t working on your device.
