Shared apple id between me and my mom

My mom and I share the same Apple ID, and now I want my own. Only problem is that our photos have been combined, so therefore I have her photos mixed with my own and she has the same. I could log out of our shared Apple ID and create my own, but our photos would still be together. Is there a way to separate them without accidentally deleting them or the iCloud safety copy?

You can turn Photos syncing off and delete the photos your don't want. That is a manual process. There is no way to separate them automatically.
