iPad 3rd gen showing battery and black screen but no charge?

Hey guys,

I have a 3rd gen iPad. It's for some reason not getting a charge. I just stays here and doesn't get any further. I've plugged it up to itunes but it doesn't show up.

Do I need replace the charging port or the battery?

Thanks!

More than likely, the battery has finally failed.

These iPad 2 and 3 models are nearly 8-9 years old, now.

Batteries maybe reaching their end of life.

Not sure if Apple will be able to do this as they do not do actual battery replacements in iPads.

Bring it into your nearest, “local” Apple Store for diagnosis, evaluation and potential options.

You could, also, look into possible local, reputable, reliable third party repair places that specialise in repairing Apple mobile devices to do an actual battery replacement.

Have you made any backups of this iPad in the time you owned it?

May not be able to retrieve any important data stored on thatip pad at this point.

It maybe just time to consider a new or discounted, refurbished iPad from Apple, at this late date.

Thank you! I'm able to do it myself. I've fixed some other iPads before, but I've not ran into a battery issue yet. So I was just confused. I didn't know if I needed to replace the connection port or the battery. But it the port recognizes when a cable is plugged in because the picture of the cable and lightning bolt goes away.

So, I'm thinking it's a battery as well.
