My Apple TV 4K will not start up. The status light is blinking.

My Apple TV 4K will not start up. The status light is blinking. I believe the software update was interrupted by an electrical outage. I found information about the blinking light and it states the software needs to be restored to factory. Apple told me I needed to buy a new one because it was purchased 15 months ago. Very upsetting. Does anyone have any suggestions?
