I can’t block the contact in iMessage on Mac! I tried to do that many times...

OK. I was able to reproduce the problem. I need to investigate further.
Meanwhile a workaround: Use FaceTime to block the contact. It will then show up in the blocked list in Messages.

Could you provide more details?
You go to Menu Messages > Preferences > Blocked Tab and click + at the bottom to add a contact to the list.

What do you mean by "nothing happens"? You don't see a popup window showing a contacts list? Any error message?

Sure :) I see popup window, click “+”, choose contact and... that’s it. List of blocked contacts is empty...
no error messages...
and I still recieve messages from the contact...
