I have an older ipad mod 16gb that i've misplaced the log on info and cannot activate the ipad can you help me get it going?

Start here: If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
This assuming you remember the Apple ID and password associated, and are solely having trouble with the passcode.
If this iPad is Activation Locked and either not to your Apple ID, or if you’ve forgotten the password to the Apple ID, it’s a brick until and unless you can recall or reset the Apple ID password.
