My downloads are not showing up in that folder or anywhere I can find. Help please, how do I fix this?

If you are using icloud —look there.
Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple ...
In your different browsers>Preferences you can change download location.
ex.
Do a spotlight search—
