Calculator font Mac OS Catalina

Having an issue with the calculator app in Mac OS Catalina, where the numbers typed are invisible. The computer is running Catalina 10.15.2 (19C57). I assume I'm either missing a font, or a font is turned off in my font manager (Suitcase Fusion 9 (21.0.0). Computer is a 2019 MBP 16".

Anyone have any suggestions where to start? Thanks very much.

Special symbols missing from character view menu & show up as a boxed x when displayed. There are several symbols I'd like to type such as a half star that do not show up in the character view, and when shown online or typed in any document in any font, it is displayed as a boxed x. I tried resetting the fonts and restarting, searching for an extension, and more without luck. How can I make these characters show up? I have a Macbook Pro (macOS High Sierra 10.13.6).

Displaying different font characters In earlier interations of MacOS, there was a screen that showed the different characters for the different fonts. For example if I wanted to know what key combination displayed a check mark in Wingdings, I could go to that font, and see what would be displayed. I can't seem to find anything like that in newer Mac OS. Is there still a way to show what might be displayed if Hold down the shift key in Wingdings font? Seems to me it used to be called KeyCaps or something like that in MacOS 6. Thanks for the help.

Helvetica Regular font display issues in Big Sur 11.4 with Suitcase Fusion So since upgrading from Catalina to Big Sur with Suitcase Fusion 21.3.0 (9663) installed for Font Management the font Helvetica Regular displays mostly as question marks, though in the case of mail it is only in the mail window, if I open the e-mail separately it shows correctly. I also am showing it in 1Password. IN WINDOW AND Opened externally. And in 1Password The strange thing is this is a system font that is not controlled by Suitcase, but is only in Font Book. I found this other thread about it, but wasn't allowed to post there, but the solution does work if I never again open Suitcase. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252362828?login=true I have contacted Extensis technical support but haven't heard back. Anyone have any ideas?
