I have created a 4K 9:16 project (2160 x 3840), however when trying to export it the file that’s saved is only 1216 x 2160, which nowhere near 4K.
How can I create an mp4 or m4v in the correct size, 2160 x 3840. I have Compressor, but cannot find the option to alter the size. Perhaps I’m looking in the wrong places.
All suggestions are very appreciated!
I tested in Compressor and FCP X and for Apple Devices 4K, the horizontal max is 2160.
Exporting a Master File as either ProRes or H264 in 2160x3840 DOES work.
Also, converting a ProRes file with these dimensions in the Finder (control-click, Services->Encode Selected Video Files) works, and lets you produce an H264 or HEVC file with the same dimensions.

I used a 4K preset I made in Compressor (I wanted a higher bitrate than the one available in the built in Apple Devices), I now see that I based it on the Apple Devices, just upped the bitrate.
Since I used a saved profile, I did not get any choices except file name.
If the limit is inherited from Apple Devices that would be the explanation.
You need to send to Compressor and create a custom MPEG-4 preset. Click the + in the lower left and select New Setting. In the sheet that drops down select MPEG-4. Make whatever settings you want and apply it to the video.
Please tell us exactly how you are exporting - Master file? Apple Devices? What choices did you make under "Settings" in the export window?
2160x3840 is a vertical format - I'm not sure but that may be the problem.
Maybe, just maybe, there is a limitation in the width to 2160 for Apple devices?
