Can no longer hide QuickTime player controls after Catalina 10.15.2 Update?

After updating to Catalina, I can seemingly no longer hide the player controls on QuickTime. The tab is constantly visible and is bothersome, whereas before the update I would click anywhere on the screen (in full screen) and it would auto-hide (screenshot attached for reference). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

On my MacBook Pro, the visibility of the controller is related to the proximity of the cursor to the controller on screen. When I move the cursor away from the controller, the controller will fade in about 3 seconds. I think it was the same before the update.
