Does 'Hey Siri' work on iPhone 11 while listening to music, like on the iPhone 11 Pro Max?

Hey I was wondering if someone can help me out, I have a question about the iPhone 11. So my question is does the iPhone 11 allow you to use Hey Siri while playing Apple Music or Spotify on your iPhone 11? To control skip pause volume all that jazz.

I know it worked between the iPhone 6s and 8, but not in any of the full screen iPhones the last couple years. I have an iPhone XR and it doesn’t work with that BUT!  I just found out that it does work on the iPhone 11 Pro Max (because my friend has one and I caught him in the act of using it) and I am wondering if it works on the iPhone 11 which is more affordable.

I am a quadriplegic and this feature was super helpful for everyone in the disability community, not sure why Apple changed that but they must have their reasons.

Thank you very much for any responses.

Use Siri to play music on iPhone

  • You can use Siri to control music playback in the Music app .

Use Siri

Summon Siri, then make your request. Siri supports a wide variety of commands:

  • Play Apple Music: You can play any song (“Play ‘I’m a Mess’ by Bebe Rexha”), artist (“Play Ariana Grande”), album, playlist, or station. You can play music on AirPlay 2-enabled devices in a specific room (“Play the latest album by Christina Aguilera in the living room”). You can also play popular songs from different years (“Play the top songs from 1990”).
  • Let Siri be your personal DJ: Say something like “Play my Chill Mix” or “Play something I like.”
  • Add music from Apple Music to your library: (Apple Music subscription required) Say, for example, “Add ‘Nobody’ by Mitski to my Library.” Or while playing something, say “Add this to my library.”
  • Add a song or album to a playlist: While playing a song, say something like “Add this song to my Workout playlist” or “Add this album to my Sunday Morning playlist.”
  • Find out more about the current song: Say “What’s playing?”, “Who sings this song?”, or “Who is this song by?”
  • Play songs based on their lyrics: Say “Play the song with the lyrics” and then say a key phrase from the lyrics.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I should’ve been clearer.

I’m just talking about using your voice to say Hey Siri, not pressing the side button or anything like that because I know that works.

Hey Siri is the feature that has not been working in the iPhone X or Xs variance (while music is playing on your device),

It is working on the iPhone 11 Pro Max that my friend has so I’m just looking for someone with an iPhone 11 that confirm that using their voice to summon Siri while listening to music will actually activate Siri.

The reason I’m specifically asking if this feature is working is because I am a quadriplegic that cannot move from the shoulders down. Therefore I cannot press side button to activate and even with iOS 13 and voice control, using voice commands while playing music on the device doesn’t work.
