Why is there still no app for iPhones that allows recording of phone calls for free? It’s a basic function on android phones! In today’s world, it’s a very common need whether for business purposes or personal. People need the ability to record phone calls. Anyone aware of a way of doing this without having to spend a ton of money to store recordings? Thanks!

Because in many states and countries, recording phone calls is illegal. There are 3rd party apps you can get, but be advised, if you don't tell someone you are recording a call in advance, you could be breaking the law. Apple is not going to natively provide a feature, which is patently against the law.
You're not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user tech support forum, and we're just users like you, not aware of Apple decisions or future plans.

I have literally tried about thirty different apps each of which asks for money either based on storage or for a monthly fee which is quite lofty. Why is it free on android? I don’t think it’s a legal matter as it doesn’t seem logical that android would allow people the option for free if it was a legal issue.
You can download a 3rd party app from AppStore, keeping in mind that such activity is prohibited in the vast majority of the countries.
