Hi there .. for some reason i have a red video/movie camera icon now appearing in the top right corner of my ipad? what is this? has someone hacked my ipad? thanks

Green indicator for camera. So my iphone7 was locked on the floor. I picked it up and noticed the green light at the top of the screen was on, indicating that an app was using my camera. I don’t particularly feel comfortable with apps using my camera willy nilly, without me opening an app for that particular purpose. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I see what app is doing this? And how do I stop it? Thanks
