What’s current period on cellular usage on iPhone? Is it a calendar month?

What does “Current period” mean in Cellular Data usage Is the current period my billing period or is it usage since I bought the phone? Personal Hotspot data has data carrying over from last month’s billing period. I can tell by the devices listed, I know the exact dates they were connected. So how is this information compiled and is the carrier supposed to send a reset signal to start again from zero? Nothing makes sense. I get 40GB per month, and my cellular service shows I used 13GB in May, and only 1GB so far in June.

What is the current period? What is the current period for the cellular data report? Is it the current billing cycle of my carrier, or the time since my last reset?

Data usage at midnight In viewing the data usage details on my cellular provider's site, I noticed several day's worth of data usage at exactly 12:00:00 am and pm, and 06:00:00 am and pm. Since no one uses the phone at precisely that time, it seems these might be times Apple uses to download/upload data. Any idea what's going on?

No. It is the period since you last manually reset the statistics via the "Reset Statistics" when you scroll to the bottom of that screen. In other words, it could be hours or months or other.
