Broken MacBookPro Screen and HDMI LCD

I also researched the question, on how to utilize the HDMI output on my friends MacBrookPro during BOOT (the so-called ClamShell feature).

Few articles address the fact that if your screen is broken, how to access your login with the broken or cracked screen.

PRO TIP:

-Turn the MacBookPro off, by holding the power button for more than 7 seconds.

-Connect the HDMI cable to your TV or Monitor.

-Connect any USB Keyboard and USB Mouse (or wireless).

-With the lid open, tap the power button, and turn the power ON.

-IMMEDIATELY close the lid!

-The TV should default, and the MacBookPro should boot to your HDMI TV or LCD screen.

Best of Luck!

You may be over-thinking this a bit.

Power off your Mac.

Connect the external display. (An external keyboard or mouse is not required, but may be used if desired.)

Power up your Mac.

The external display should light up as well.

If the external display shows only the desktop background, and no MenuBar, press F1 to enable screen mirroring.

Your external display should now be usable. If you wish to enhance its resolution, change:

system preferences > displays > Arrange ...

to allow turning OFF Mirroring, allow setting independent resolutions for each display, and drag the tiny menuBar icon to the external display:
