Try explaining exactly what you are doing, what app you are using, and what you are seeing on the iPhone. You need to be using Find My if you are on an iOS device, or you need to be logged into iCloud and using Find there if on a computer. The device needs to have Find My iPhone turned on in Settings and must be powered on and have an active internet connection for it to be seen.

Terse postings can be confusing, and can be unanswerable.

Background info, details, a sequence we can use to reproduce this, can all help you get the answer you want more quickly.

Is this iPhone new to you, or one that you’ve had for a while?

If this is new behavior with an iPhone that you’ve used for a while, any recent relevant changes?

Which iPhone? the iPhone 11 Pro Max?

iOS apps don’t prompt for Apple ID and password when launched, save for some sensitive operations.

The Find My app can prompt.

Are other apps also prompting for your Apple ID and password, such as Safari?
