AirPod Pros Siri and Announce Messages do not function properly

When using Siri with my Airpod Pros, all that happens is my music gets louder, and the same thing happens with announce iMessages. Why? Shouldn’t it pause my music then say what it needs to, and not just raise the volume of my music?
