Tapping return twice also gets rid of the formatting.

One way is to tap twice on that “tick in a circle”.

Thanks, that'll do for now.
Those don't help. They get rid of the number/bullet/dash/asterisk/etc entirely. I still want to use the characters but just circumvent the autoformatting.
