Yes, you should be able to charge the empty case and use the AirPods at the same time:

I would like to leave my phone in the case while charging it on a wireless charger. At the same time, I would like to plug in my earphones and listen to music. Is this possible? I have an IPhone 8 that does not have a separate earphone plug in.
