Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying an old 15" Macbook Pro, and I'd like to know the last model Apple released where you could upgrade the ram yourself? Also what's the maximum amount of RAM that computer will allow?

Sure about that? They're saying that some of the older Unibody MBPs max out at 8 GB. The pre-Unibody MBPs seem to max out at around 3GB or 6GB depending on the model.

The Mid 2012 model was the last upgradable unit. It could have 16GB installed.

Check the OWC site for available upgrades.
My 2011 is running 16 GB.
That is why I suggested checking what is available at OWC.
