Return multiple items with one lookup value in Apple Numbers

Hello,

I am referencing the following thread and have the exact same issue in Apple Numbers: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6854292, but having trouble getting it to work because unlike the example dataset, I have multiple examples that are offset by more than 1 row. Do you know how you can get this to work in a scenario like this?

Thank you!

Hi Jennifer,

With your index already in place you are most of the way there.

Note that Table 1's index is formatted as text (shows as left justified).

The formula in my ticket # return table is

A3=INDEX(Table 1::B,MATCH(A$1&ROW(cell)−2,Table 1::C,0),column-index,area-index)

It is filled down.

MATCH looks for the id number plus the ROW minus 2 (if I had only a single header row I would be subtracting 1)

So in A3 it is looking for 901, A4 - 902, etc.

I have as many rows in my table as I think there are possible tickets. I would create a filter to hide unneeded rows.

Let me know if anything is unclear.

A filter does the same thing with a click or two. No formulas!

Result:

And don't forget the Category feature, that will also give you counts with a few clicks, all without formulas!

The visible cells can easily be copy pasted into another table (select, command-c, click once in a cell of an existing destination table, Edit > Paste and Match Style).

Now that Numbers has these nifty capabilities (which it didn't have a few years ago) I have never looked back at the complicated formulas we all used to have to input and debug to accomplish a common task like this.
