error code -43

Trying to move data from internal drive to external drive and I keep getting error code -43. How can I fix this so I can drag and drop to the backup drive? It is partitioned.

MacBook Pro 17", OS X 10.11

error -43 fnfErr: File not found

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
