Repair hard drive with photos on it, is it safe?

The disk utility want me to repair my external hard drive (I haven't noticed any trouble with it tho) but I have 103GB on it and I don't want to risk loosing it! Is it safe to press "repair" and not loose any data?


I have a MacBook Air from 2013 (10.10.5) and it seems to have trouble with the index key?
