Catalina Mail requires a rebuild in order to retrieve new emails

When using mail with an exchange server on a new Mac running Catalina 10.15.2 and mail version 13, emails are not retrieved unless I rebuild.

The Get Mail button does not work and neither does changing "Check for new messages" settings from automatic to every minute.

I have 3 other email accounts which all work correctly.

Suggestions?

Delete the troubled account, then add it back in.

As the problem occurs when moving messages from the reception box of the Exchange account to boxes "On my Mac", messages are staying in the reception box of the Exchange account.

How can I be sure to get those messages back when deleting the "troubled" account, then adding it back in?

Is it so difficult to make things work fine at the first release?

The people who worked with os7 remembered well what **** means.

The song remains the same.
