Why when I formate or earse my 8GB Flashdrive does it reflect a 7.99 GB capacity?

Formatting the disk places a small file directory on the drive so the drive will function properly and store your data correctly.

Yes, it's got to take up some space. It's hardly worth bothering about.

So, would I be correct in thinking that the "file directory" consumed approx. 10 MB of space? Thanks for your help!
