For Thought:
Backtrack your Locations (i.e Retailer, Restaurant, School, Hotel, etc.), calling them, or going there in person. Perhaps it was placed aside, in a "Lost & Found" location. Also, contact the Local Law Enforcement Agency. Perhaps it was handed over. You never know. :)
