auto format problem in numbers

So, I am making a spreadsheet with 2019 sales/expenses etc... but the format option for auto filling cells with dates - or completing it when i type in partial like mar 14 should become march 14 2019 but it won't let me. It fills in 2020... I see no way to correct that. The auto options are all 2020... I shouldn't need to make the whole computer believe it is 2019 just to have the date for one column be 2019... am i missing something. The image shows the drop down for date under date & time<format. No place to choose or manually set dates

Numbers is giving you a chance to select the format you want. It doesn't "autofill" with the date. You need to enter the actual date in a cell. Type 2019 in the date you enter if that is the year you intend. If you leave out the year when you enter a date Numbers will guess that you mean the current year (now 2020). The date you enter in a cell will be formatted using your selection for Data Format.
