iPhone XS Max Windows 10 Sync Issue - all data has turned to 'Other'!

OK, so this is a weird one. I plugged my iPhone XS Max into my Windows 10 laptop today (all updates are done, latest version of iTunes) and all the data was marked as 'Other'. When I tried to Sync it wouldn't. Cannot back up either as that's greyed out.


Strange, so I plugged it into another Windows 10 laptop and in iTunes the data was all marked correctly (music, photos etc) and sync was available, plugged into my Mac mini, and again all is well. So it looks like the phone is OK and not corrupted.


Back to my main PC, I changed cable, changed USB socket, no improvement.


So, completely uninstalled all of iTunes and associated programs (iCloud, Bonjour etc..) from Windows following the Apple guide. Rebooted, reinstalled latest version and plugged it in again, still not reporting the data correctly. All still marked as 'other'.


Anyone got a suggestion, or anything else I can try?

I actually did fix it, yes. Sorry, should of updated the thread.


So anyway, I was using the iTunes downloaded from the Apple site. Turns out, the problem goes away if you completely uninstall iTunes following this guide (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204275) then install iTunes app from the Windows 10 store.


Let me know if that fixes it for you!

This is happening to me as well, on two different devices, iPad Air 2 and iPhone 11. All updated to current iOS as of today. I've reinstalled iTunes and such already. I've plugged my phone into my partner's computer, and it sees the stuff just fine. Any attempts to sync only have two steps instead of the usual five. It decides what to sync then quits there without ever actually making an attempt to sync.


I also can't back up locally.


Did you figure anything out?


ETA: I also tried downgrading to an older version of iTunes. Same problem. Diagnostics say there's nothing wrong with syncing.
