It’s probably an update that requires a Mac or PC.

If you have a PC, download iTunes then open it, plug your iPhone in with a USB cable or charger and check for updates from there.

If you’re on a Mac with Catalina, plug your phone in and open a Finder window. Your phone’s name should be in the sidebar, under Locations. Click on it and check for updates.

If you’re on a Mac without Catalina, follow PC steps except you don’t need to download iTunes as it comes preinstalled with your Mac.

Sorry if my PC instructions were unclear. I don’t use Windows much. I’m new to the community. You can find more clear instructions on Google.

The latest supported iPhone is the iPhone 6s. If you have an iPhone older than that then that's the reason.

If you have an iPhone that's newer than the 6s, a lot of factors are involved:

  1. Make sure you have a reliable internet connection. Try restarting your iPhone and checking again.
  2. Are you jailbroken? If you are (aka have the cydia/sileo app), it is very important to revert to stock iOS. Backup your data then restore your iPhone with iTunes.
  3. If you have a beta profile installed, delete that. (General > Profiles)
  4. If none work, try updating with iTunes. Plug your iPhone into iTunes on pc/Mac then click update to get started. (This will download a large update file so make sure you're on a fast unmetered connection.)
