I received a call stating that my icloud account was compromised and that I shouldn't use the web but to push #1 to be connected to someone to help. Is this from Apple/icloud or is this a scam? Also if this is a scam how will I be contacted if something were to happen?

It's a scam. Apple does not call users from out of the blue. Hang up on criminals as many times as necessary. Do not talk to them, not even to call them bad names. Staying on the line longer only tells their computer calling system you're a possible mark and will increase the calls you get.
