I received a call stating that my icloud account was compromised and that I shouldn't use the web but to push #1 to be connected to someone to help. Is this from Apple/icloud or is this a scam? Also if this is a scam how will I be contacted if something were to happen?

It is a scam. Apple doesn't make unsolicited phone calls. You would be notified of an issue when you attempt to login (including logging in to this site). Also see: Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
