Does anybody know how to get a Logitech F310 working with OS Catalina?

I purchased a Logitech F310 game controller that supposedly will just plug and play with my iMac (one of only a few). However it doesn't work properly - first it recognised it but was intermittent requiring me to change to a new USB port each time. Now no USB port works with it.

An internet search suggests this is a Catalina issue?

Any ideas?
