Can I reinstall a clean version of Mojave without Time Machine restore, as Catalina is hopeless and ruined my iMac's performance in every way. From Safari, to iTunes, to booting in 20 mins and unresponsive as and when it feels like it.

You would have to create a Mojave Bootable installer. Boot from it, erase your drive then install Mojave. Of course a clean install will erase everything on your drive.

Thanks QuickTimeKirk, but I have just signed on and don't want to start sharing so much info about what I am running etc on Mac..
All the system software I have run hasn't found any major issues... :( including EtreCheck)

Cant see how as I downloaded it earlier and would'nt accept it for execution...
Going back in Mac OS is very difficult and wrought with many failures and tribulations.
I have come from Mac OS 6 to Mac OS 15 with only a few.
Try it, if you like, and let us know why an anonymous post here should cause you any real concern.

I am not sure what info it creates and would be concerned of sharing so much detail, without some trust from relationships already forged...

Erase your OS and reinstall Mojave as you wish. We can't help any further.
