Can’t delete anything

If by the usual method, I presume you mean holding down the apps icon on the home screen of your iPhone. Here is a secondary method!

Open the Settings app on your phone, then click on General and after click iPhone Storage. Give your phone a minute to work and it will display all of the applications on your device filtered by the highest amount of storage to least used by the app.

If you are looking to delete the app from your phone AND the documents and files associated with it, which would clear up the most space, click on the app and after hit Delete App. You can also hit Offload App if you wish to remove the application from your phone, but do not want to remove any files associated with it.

What happens when you tap and hold an app? Do you not get the prompt to delete it?

Check Screen Time settings in case deleting of apps has been disabled.
