Can't add songs to a smart playlist.

Ever since upgrading to Catalina or maybe 10.15.2, I am not able to add songs to one of my playlists. I'll try and explain this clearly. First of all everything is working normally on my phone with iOS 13.3. On my phone I am able to see all my playlists and all my smart playlists. When I choose "add to playlist" on my iPhone, I am able to see all of my playlists, INCLUDING MY SMART PLAYLISTS, and then add songs to smart playlists.

This is NOT the case on my iMac. I can see all of my playlists, including my smart playlists and play them normally. However, when I right click on a song I want to download; and scroll to "Add to Playlist" none of my smart playlists show up. The normal playlists show up in the "add to playlist" list but NONE of the smart playlists show up.

Does anyone know how to fix this and make my smart playlist appear when i try to add a song?

Thanks,

Lou

Hey Lou,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're running into some trouble with Smart Playlists on your devices. I'd be glad to provide you with a little more info.

Smart Playlists actually can't have specific songs added to them, as they work as a set of rules that will automatically add items that meet the requirements of those rules. So for example, if you wanted to listen to everything in your library released before 1985, you could set that up. You can look over the specifics of how Smart Playlists work and how to configure them to tailor your specific tastes in Create a Smart Playlist in Music on Mac.

Hope that helps!

Have a great day.
